Jackpot TV

Jackpot TV Show

Jackpot, the TV game show, started life on NBC on January 7, 1974.

Produced by Bob Stewart and hosted by Geoff Edwards from the NBC New York studios, the show ran for just over a year, and was last aired on September 26, 1975.

In the show each week, 16 contestants competed, with one designated as the 'expert', to guess what the Jackpot might be. Guess correctly, the expert wins, guess wrong and he or she was replaced by another.

Ten years later, the show was resurected by USA Cable network, and aired in Canada with a new host, Mike Darrow.

Play was similar to the original NBC version, with the 'expert' renamed 'King (or Queen ) of The Hill. Prizes ranged from 2000 dollars to 9,950, with a super Jackpot a possible 50,000 dollars.

In 1989 the show was syndicated and original host, Geoff Edwards was back at the helm, this time it was aired from a studio in Los Angeles, USA.

Ironically for a show named Jackpot, the production company went bankrupt.
